Electrosurgical Electrodes
Electrosurgical Electrodes from Bovie Covidien Symmetry and Valleylab
Electrosurgical procedures make use of a focused energy to accomplish a variety of tasks from vaporizing cells to causing coagulation in tissue. The return electrode or pad is a large area but the energy becomes highly focused as it passes through the handpiece and to the electrosurgical tip were it meets the skin. The tips or electrosurgical electrodes are available in disposable or reusable types and in a large variety of shapes to best focus the energy for a specific task. The shapes range from tiny points for a highly focused use to broad blades and square or round shaped loops each with a specific purpose in mind. Keep in mind the shape that contacts the body determines the size or area in which the current will act so the correct shape or electrosurgical electrode is critical.
Recently Symmetry Surgical acquired Bovie Medical and had previously had acquired Olsen giving them one of the largest selection of electrodes (tips) and electrosurgical supplies anywhere. Bovie continues to be a division inside of Symmetry so for now we will continue to list the products under their name.
Disposable electrodes utilize the standard 3/32” (2.3mm) stainless steel shaft. The molded electrodes feature safety grip insulators combining patient and user safety with easy insertion into and removal from the surgical pencil. Disposable electrodes are manufactured to the highest standards. They come individually packaged sterile.
All Bovie® LLETZ Loop and Square electrodes feature tungsten wire for superior shape and integrity throughout the excision procedure. These electrosurgical electrodes use a standard 3/32” (2.3mm) shaft. All molded loops are packaged in a patented protective tray to prevent damage during shipping.
Bovie manufactures an expansive line of specialty electrosurgical electrodes for a variety of applications including; SuperCut™ Needle Electrodes for precise and delicate procedures, Dermal Loop Electrodes for dermatologic procedures, as well as Arthroscopic electrodes.
Reusable electrosurgery electrodes utilize the standard 3/32” (2.3mm) stainless steel shaft. The molded electrodes feature safety grip insulators combining patient and user safety with easy insertion and removal from the surgical pencil. The reusable electrodes are designed for multiple uses and are made with materials to withstand many autoclave cycles. See For Use in the package for proper reuse.
Additionally, we supply many specialized electrosurgical tips some that are coated to reduce buildup during procedures other types are made for Laparoscopic or Arthroscopic use and some are made of Tungsten for precise and delicate procedures
Electrosurgical electrodes have evolved over the years
and while there are still the general types used in most procedures others have
become extremely specialized to best suit a variety of special procedures or
surgeries.
